FLUSHING BID MEETING WITH DEPUTY MAYOR
Wednesday, June 15, 2011 | 3:00-4:00 PM | Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel | 135-20 39th Avenue
The Flushing BID hosted a meeting with the NYC Deputy Mayor for Operations Stephen Goldsmith
and local business owners. He painstakingly listened
to our reports and suggestions about what
the City can do to help the local business and community. He graciously
promised to do whatever he can to help us. Below are the topics we
discussed with him:
- The MTA Buses parked at Roosevelt Avenue are causing hardship for
businesses to carry out their daily activities.
-
DOH lacks consistency on its law enforcement. e.g. Two inspectors
showed up at the same restaurant one hour apart. A summon was given when
the owner clearly complied with the regulations.
-
DOB lacks consistency and transparency in approval process. In many
cases, who you know is more effective than what you know.
-
The BID also recommended the City to create a hotline similar to 311 to
help solve business owners problems.
